Taxi
Taxis are common throughout St. Thomas.
Buses
Charlotte Amalie (the main city in St. Thomas) offers city
buses for local transport and to and from the airport. For more information,
call the VITRAN office at 774-5678.
Rental car
Most major rental companies and several local rental
companies rent automobiles on St. Thomas. The major issue here is "drive on the
left!" Please also remember to obey all speed limits and fasten your seat belt.
Sightseeing
The following local airlines provide service between
St. Thomas and St. Croix, and San Juan (Puerto Rico) and St. Thomas/St.
Croix
Ferries to St. John island (where you can find one of
the top ten beaches in the world!)
Passenger and car ferries from St. Thomas to St.
John depart from Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook
(on the east side of St. Thomas). Ferries to and from Red Hook and Cruz Bay take
between 15 and 20 minutes; ferries to and from Charlotte Amalie and Cruz Bay
take approximately 45 minutes.
The schedules are as follows:
- Red Hook to Cruz Bay, St. John: 6:30 am
and 7:30 am, then each hour 8 am to midnight
- Cruz Bay to Red Hook, St. Thomas: Each
hour, 6 am to 11 pm
- Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay, St. John:
9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:30 pm
- Cruz Bay to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas:
7:15 am, 9:15 am, 11:15 am, 1:15 pm, 2:15 pm, 3:45 pm
